The CROSSWAY range has secured its fifth "Sustainable Bus of the Year" title in the intercity category with CROSSWAY ELEC.
After winning the "SBY 2024" award with the CROSSWAY Low Entry ELEC, the "SBY 2023" with the biomethane-compatible CROSSWAY Low Entry Hybrid Gas, the "SBY 2020" title for its Natural Gas version, and the "SBY 2018" award with its Low Entry gas version, this latest recognition title confirms IVECO BUS's position as the undisputed leader in the intercity segment and underscores its commitment to supporting transport operators in their energy transition with a complete range of alternative energies, including electric.

After winning the "Sustainable Bus of the Year" awards in 2018, 2020, 2023, and 2024 in the intercity vehicle category, IVECO BUS continues its momentum with the CROSSWAY ELEC, which has been crowned "Sustainable Bus of the Year 2026." This 100% electric vehicle, introduced at the end of 2024 in the CROSSWAY range, completes the zero-emission offering proposed by the manufacturer to support the energy transition.
The "Sustainable Bus Award" jury, made up of journalists from 10 European countries – Italy, France, Germany, Finland, Slovenia, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Romania, Poland, and Spain – focused heavily on the overarching principles of sustainable development adopted by the manufacturer, both in design and production, to provide a zero-emission and sustainable intercity transport solution. In addition to the vehicle's modular design and flexible energy storage that maintain passenger capacity and luggage space, key criteria also included low noise levels, the component recyclability, and the Vysoké Myto site's environmental commitments.
"Receiving the 'Sustainable Bus of the Year 2026' award with our CROSSWAY ELEC is a great source of pride for us. This fifth recognition for our CROSSWAY range, the undisputed leader in its segment, highlights our ability to innovate and anticipate the evolution of the collective transport industry. It also testifies to our long-standing commitment to more sustainable and decarbonised mobility," commented Claudio Passerini, President, Business Unit Bus, Iveco Group, during the award ceremony at Busworld in Brussels, Belgium.
As a leader in sustainable mobility, IVECO BUS has further expanded its range of solutions to help transport operators reduce their carbon footprint. The CROSSWAY ELEC, the second electric version of the iconic CROSSWAY range, has been designed to decarbonise school and intercity transport. Available in classes II and III, it complements the CROSSWAY Low Entry ELEC, creating a complete range of electric solutions covering both urban and peri-urban missions.
The CROSSWAY ELEC stands out for its flexibility and modularity in battery choice, offering tailored autonomy for both short trips and longer journeys of up to 500 km, while preserving luggage and passenger capacity.
In short, the CROSSWAY ELEC is the perfect solution to enable operators to achieve their CO₂ targets well before 2030.
