IVECO BUS wins major tender in Germany: up to 580 units, including 250 electric buses with charging infrastructures, for the purchasing group “BusGruppe” and initiated by Verkehrsbetriebe Bachstein
IVECO BUS has been awarded a landmark order by the purchasing group “BusGruppe” in Germany to supply of up to 580 vehicles over a 5-year period, including 250 fully electric buses and associated charging infrastructures. Initiated by Verkehrsbetriebe Bachstein, this is the largest electric bus tender ever won by IVECO BUS in the German market.

The purchasing group “BusGruppe” and IVECO BUS have signed a 5-year framework agreement for the supply of up to 580 IVECO units, including 250 electric buses and associated charging infrastructures. This represents the biggest electric bus tender ever awarded to IVECO BUS in Germany. Deliveries of the buses will begin in 2025 and continue through to 2030.
The framework agreement includes up to 200 12-meter CROSSWAY Low Entry ELEC buses and
50 articulated E-WAY electric buses. The vehicles will be equipped with high-energy-density 69.3 kWh NMC battery packs, delivering 180 Wh/kg to optimize the balance between passenger capacity and onboard energy.
Complementing the electric buses, the order includes up to 150 18-meter URBANWAY Hybrid articulated buses and 180 12-meter CROSSWAY Low Entry intercity buses. These vehicles perfectly meet the requirements of public passenger transport, providing an efficient solution, particularly in urban areas. They stand out for their excellent accessibility for boarding and exiting, maneuverability and driving comfort, as well as their powerful 360 hp Euro VI Step E-compliant Cursor 9 engine compatible with XTL (X-To-Liquid) renewable fuels.
The BusGruppe has specified additional options tailored to their requirements, including Intercity “cantilever” seating, air conditioning, video surveillance, Wi-Fi, fuel-saving functions, and USB charging ports.
