FPT INDUSTRIAL DEBUTS AT SMM WITH A POWERFUL DISPLAY OF ITS NEW MARINE AND AUXILIARY PROPULSION RANGE
FPT Industrial was for the first time an exhibitor at SMM, the leading international trade fair for the maritime industry held at Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH in Hamburg (Germany) from 6 to 9 September 2022.
For its debut, coinciding with the celebrations to mark SMM’s 30th edition, FPT Industrial showcased an exclusive premiere on its stand, alongside the latest additions to its marine propulsion line-up, interesting new perspectives in the field of auxiliary engines, and a complete presentation of its connected Customer Service approach as well as of its worldwide sales and assistance network.
NEW C16 1000 KEEL COOLING
With the reveal of the new C16 1000 marine engine, presented for the first time in its Keel Cooling configuration, FPT Industrial has completed its full line-up dedicated to push and tug boats, ferries, dredgers and commercial fishing vessels, operating in brown waters, inland waterways and harbors.
Already adopted by the brand on its N40 250 E, N67 450 N and N67 570 EVO marine models unveiled in 2021, as well as on the C16 600 presented at Nor-Shipping 2022, Keel Cooling is a solution for effectively cooling engines operating in sandy, muddy and shallow water.
Thanks to its position along the keel or incorporated into the hull itself, therefore in constant contact with the water, the external cooling system can efficiently transfer heat between the coolant and the water, without the need to circulate salt water in the engine.
The major benefits includes protection of the engine from seawater corrosion, avoidance of continuous seawater filter obstruction, and preventing frequent damage to the seawater impeller.
Already available for order, thanks to its top performance coupled to the compact form and light weight of a 13-liter package, but with the durability of a 16-liter unit, the new C16 1000 Keel Cooling can be used not only for displacement hulls but also for high-performance fishing boats. All FPT Industrial’s common rail Marine engines, including keel-cooled configurations, can be fueled by HVO with no compromise on performance. Reductions in CO2 emissions of up to 90% can be achieved, depending on the feedstock used in the HVO production.
C90 410 – TOP PERFORMANCE FOR MEDIUM- AND HEAVY-DUTY COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS
As a true member of the Cursor engines family, the C90 410 offers outstanding power output alongside high power and torque density, with generous displacement and the highest levels of reliability. Marine professionals can trust this engine specifically developed to bring top performance to medium- and heavy-duty commercial applications with easy maintenance and competitive operating costs. The C90 410 is offered both in heat-exchanged and keel-cooled configurations, all customizable on request. Options include electronic remote control, monitoring systems and compliance with international emission standards such as IMO MARPOL Tier II, China GB II, EU IWV STV (only for 170 Hp) and RINA propulsion type approval. At SMM, the C90 410 was also presented as an auxiliary power unit with layout and specific settings focused on marine duties, available for variable speed generators and fixed speed auxiliaries
Thanks to its extended warranty programs and proactive assistance service, FPT Industrial is able to offer C90 410 owners peace of mind and full confidence in their daily work – the same benefits provided by FPT Industrial’s entire marine engines line-up.
N67 450N KC – THE MOST VERSATILE ENGINE FOR PLEASURE-VESSEL AND COMMERCIAL MARINE APPLICATIONS IN KEEL-COOLED CONFIGURATION
The N67 450N KC offers professionals and boating enthusiasts who have to deal with brown waters and inland waterways high power and torque density in a lightweight and compact package, with low operating costs and proven reliability.
The N67 450N KC displays remarkable versatility, satisfying both pleasure-vessel and commercial marine applications, as well as the most stringent emissions regulations.
Whatever the application, the keel-cooling configuration improves uptime and allows further cost reductions, avoiding any saltwater corrosion and seawater filter obstruction.
A COMPLETE LINE-UP OF DIESEL ENGINES FOR VARIABLE SPEED GENERATING SETS FOR PROPULSION USE, AND AN EXTENDED LINE-UP OF DIESEL ENGINES FOR FIXED-SPEED AUXILIARY AND GENERATING SETS
Boasting a complete range of marine engines suitable for variable-speed generating sets intended for propulsion use from 85 Hp up to 1,000 Hp and from 3 l up to 16 l, FPT Industrial is also extending its range of options for fixed auxiliary and generating sets with the presentation of the auxiliary version of the C90, forming a powerful combination with the N67 and N45 mechanical auxiliary units. All these engines can be efficiently used to power on-board services, like air conditioning or other tools such as winches, hydraulic rams and hydraulic pumps.
IMO TIER III AND SOLAS COMPLIANT SOLUTIONS
FPT Industrial marine diesel engines can be type approved in accordance with IMO Tier III and Solas guidelines. IMO III and Solas compliant solutions, designed and supplied on a tailor-made basis, are available through select authorized FPT Industrial dealers.
CUSTOMER SERVICE – STANDING BESIDE THE BRAND’S CUSTOMERS
The company’s stand at SMM 2022 featured a corner fully dedicated to Customer Service, a particularly important area when dealing with marine engines. This area offered a clear vision of the pillars on which FPT Industrial has built its renowned customer service reputation: reliability, protection and uptime.
The common trait of all these areas is delivering the best customer experience and supporting them in the easiest and most efficient manner, so they can rely on our marine engines and spend more time on the water with minimal worries.
DRIVING THE FUTURE OF CONNECTED ENGINES
This is the title of the speech that saw FPT under the spotlight during the Digital Transition Stage of SMM 2022, the event held from 6 to 8 of September in a fully “Powered by FPT” arena, of which the brand was main partner.
Leonardo Zecchini, Customer and Product Support Manager within FPT Industrial’s Customer Service team, described how, in a world where everything is connected, FPT Industrial has focused on how to get the best from one of the key elements of the maritime industry: the engine. A connected engine means better performance, reduced fuel consumption, and prediction of critical issues.
FPT Industrial is making fast progress in the digitization of its products by providing solutions and services based on its historical know-how and specifically tailored to its engines. Proprietary algorithms, which constitute the core of the predictive maintenance service, allow FPT to intervene in advance on potential failures. These alerts are then transformed into actionable insights to be fed back to the customer in order to avoid downtime. Finally, FPT Industrial leverages its engineering skills to constantly monitor how its products are used and installed by customers, and which one is the best for the specific customer mission, as part of its Advanced Monitoring approach.
What about the results? Predictive Maintenance can anticipate potential issues two days in advance, while repairs on connected engines take 50% of the time needed for unconnected ones. The advanced monitoring the brand has developed is now running on 90,000 connected assets, offering good visibility of component performance across the various missions.
“I expect that our debut at SMM will help outline our goals in the marine engine sector,” said Guglielmo Tummarello, Marine Market Segment Director at FPT Industrial. “It was time for us to present ourselves at one of the major events in the marine propulsion sector, in our role as a main player in terms of innovation, sustainability and advanced solutions for both commercial and pleasure vessels.”
